Don't get your way; pull your pants down.

-- According to Owen.

When it comes to school, Owen is not doing well. I am not sure if it is because his weeks have been a bit messed up since appearing on the Marilyn Denis show, or if he may just be going through a rough time. Something is up.

Owen is back to these behaviours that we have not seen in a while;

- screaming
- not waiting
- throwing backpacks in the cubby room
- not completing work stations
- laying on the ground

Owen is displaying a lot of escape behaviours, which is concerning for me, because gone will be the days of play based learning as he enters Grade 1 come this September. Also for us, June is a big month when it comes to Autism - we start having transition meetings, get the supports in place for September as 3 children in SK will be entering Grade 1.

My hope for Owen entering school is;

- he has EA support
- has has Movement breaks
- he continues to receive IBI support from Bethesda
- he will receive Speech and OT Support this coming year (he is on a waitlist)

Most parents send their children to school, like I am able to do with Maddie; and know all the supports and teachers are ready for her. Owen is different; any child that requires any type of special assistance it takes a lot of planning, advocating, and it never ends.

We are not sure why or the reasoning as to why Owen is having such a difficult time in school right now; because that is not reflecting to his experience through Bethesda. At IBI, Owen is doing wonderful. He is making gains all the time, he is rocking it - but maybe when you are doing so well in one area, another area is lacking.

I am still not sure how long I am going to be able to juggle special needs in my career and in my personal life; I have to be honest, the more we are having issues with Autism at home, the more and more difficult it is to be in this field.

Some thinking is going to have to be done.
